I'm impressed with the Xbox 360 game Project Gotham Racing 3. But I
want to change the music soundtrack, and I can't figure out how. I
choose a selection and it sends me to a different window where I'm
supposed to choose a selection. When I do, it sends me back to the
previous window. It's like an infinite loop. How do I tell it to stay
on one particular genre of music? Thanks.

I had the same problem. The way it works, I think, is that each of
those six music genres represent a 1/6 chance to pick a song from that
genre. If you want all classical, turn all six to classical, for
example. Want a rock, alt rock mix? Put it three and three. Hit the B
button to back out of the screen once you get it the way you want it.

Or even better, stream the music off another computer or the hard drive.
I'm streaming my music from our desktop computer -- it has a 160 gig
hard drive. I've made a few playlists using Windows Media Player (using
the .m3u playlist format), and then selected those in the game. Much
better.

Hope that helps,

Can you stream .mp3s off another computer? I dont have a media center.. I am
using the media center extender for XP. Could I share a CD drive from a
computer and stream off that too?

I'm just using XP Home (with SP2) and Windows Media Connect (found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/devices/wmconnect/default.aspx).

You can choose to share folders on any computer to stream music
(including .mp3s) or pictures or video to the 360. You can choose to
share a CD or DVD drive as well, so you should be able to stream off of it.

I hope that's useful.

Very cool feature. I probably won't use it, but...

No. Only music and pictures with the Media Extender. Video requires
Media Center.

Never tried to picking a different soundtrack within PGR3.

I instead use my iPod to play music. Also can be done with a Flash
Drive. The iPod needs the Optional iPod Support file which can be
downloaded from the Marketplace for free.

Once you plugin the iPod or Flash Drive. Start the game. Make sure you
are at the games Menu screen and not demo (I found this out in PGR3).
Once at the Menu screen press the silver/green X button. Use DPad to
go down to where it says Select Music. Then you have a choice of
either the 360's hard drive or your installed usb device. Once you
select your device with your list of songs, select Play All. Do not
select the name of one song. As it will go on a endless loop.

Others have said they can use an external hard drive as long as it is
USB 2.0. I have not tried this.
